Review of Futurama: Bender's Game (2008) by Kenneth L — 31 Jul 2010
Probably the least well-done of the three Futurama movies I've watched, but still enjoyable. The story is kind of nonsensical and all over the place: the first half of the movie is about a confrontation with Futurama villain Mom, but the second half essentially retells the first half in a goofy Lord of the Rings parody that doesn't actually effect the main storyline at all.
The opening credits note that the movie was written in four different sections by different writers, and it kind of feels that way. Still, it's Futurama, so it's not like it's bad. All the favorite characters are still there, and there are still lots of silly gags, so there's a certain basic level of enjoyment that it can never drop below.
Still, I was disappointed that, despite the movie's title, Ender's Game is never actually referenced.
