Review of Futurama: Bender's Big Score (2007) by Eran H — 06 May 2011
Considering the hiatus this Matt Groening opus went under, Futurama certainly resurrected with a bang with "Bender's Big Score". This film deals with Planet Express under a volatile takeover at the expense of pink, nudist aliens, which alone stands out as a surely unconventional group of antagonists.
Bender succumbs to a computer virus from these aliens, aka "scammers", along with other members of Planet Express, which sequentially leads to an oblivious Professor Farnsworth signing over the company to nudist aliens.
Only difference is that Bender is now under their command due to him, well, being a robot. Yes, while this film certainly is bombarded with a vast amount of subplots and twists, any fan of the series will surely appreciate its sophisticated form of storytelling.
Subjects ranging from time travel paradoxes to love all the way to the hilarious endeavours following a decapitated Hermes really juice this film up and enables Futurama as a landmark within contemporary cartoons.
Never have I felt so content watching a full length, animated feature let alone one made for television.
