It rang so false! First off - can we stop with movies set "back in the day" where they say "yes!" whe something good happens? This is a circa 1990. Also - they had the standard bad boy, young innocent boy, etc.
I take exception to the fact that the French family would gladly have the young girl have sex with the GI. The swearing was also not true to the times. I knew many men of that "Great Gneration" and never heard them utter more than a "goll darn it" or "what the sam hill". These were former GIs. Remember the "nuts" comment made famous in WWII?
