Review of Fury (2014) by Hayden L — 26 Feb 2015
Though admittedly a well made film, its failure to cover any new territory and its somewhat negative depiction of the soldiers of war make this film a disappointingly average war film. The only things that stand out in this film are its gritty, raw, and graphic depiction of WWII which help add some sense of realism.
However the real standout is LaBeouf's fantastic and surprising performance as Bible Swan, a priestly soldier and friend of fellow soldier Pitt. Indeed LaBeouf's performance is so moving and uncharacteristically serious that this reviewer was tempted to rate this film higher, but alas even the actor's performance and raw depiction of war fail to make this film stand above the hundreds of other war films.
