Review of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) by Clinton J — 12 Jan 2008
Like his previous film 'Secretary', Steven Shainberg has created another story of outsiders who find love, happiness and a sense of self through an intense and unusual relationship. This film looks absolutely amazing and uses sound brilliantly.
It's got a quirky charm. Kidman is great, and Ty Burrell as her husband is fantastic - but Robery Downey Jr steals the show as a real-life wolfman. I enjoyed it, but it's not for anyone looking for a biopic of Diane Arbus; this is a oddball tale 'imagining' how a real-life photographer may have found her mojo.
Silly but sweet.
