Review of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) by Vero S — 09 Jan 2010
Fascination of the abomination to the max. Very well directed movie, Shainberg really manages to convey just how sinister Arbus' pictures were. Nicole Kidman's performance is excellent, she's the best at acting insane, and showing that most geniuses are quite crazy, just like she did in "The Hours.
" I also loved the fact that the movie provides a story behind the portrait of a seemingly ordinary man by explaining he was actually quite extraordinary, and what we would regularly call a "freak.
" However, I can't help but feel that there's something missing, that more could've been done with Arbus' life and photos. I can't quite put my finger on it, though. Overall, very good film.
