Review of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) by Bill T — 24 Nov 2010
Rather unexpected, certainly original, but in the end, silly "biography" of Diane Arbus. That is, a biography which states she ditched her husband for a werewolf, which is almost what happens in this movie.
Nicole Kidman, in a certainly daring role, plays Arbus quite beautifully here. She falls for a HEAVILY hairy man, played quite amusingly by Robert Downey Jr, and tries to explain it off to her weary husband.
It's very odd, almost Lynchian, but just a bit too strange and bizarre to be taken seriously. But see it for a delirious crash. It's a somewhat fun ride.
