Review of Funny People (2009) by Corey B — 22 Sep 2011
Okay first off I have to admit I am a HUGE Judd Apatow fan, I think Judd and Kevin Smith are the two greatest comedic directors of all time. I loved 40 Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up very much so that I consider them comedy classics.
And I have to admit Funny People stands up to those two films very well. This film is also vey different because it is also a drama. Adam and Seth are very funny men but their dramatic scenes were powerful, emotional and very meaningful.
I have even more resprect for the two. Also Judd Apatow's real life wife Leslie Mann shines as Adam Sandler's EX who might or might not want him back. But I have to admit the best is Judd Apatow himself for making a great comedic film but also giving it great dramatic edge that we have not seen yet from Apatow and his amazing entourage.
Also many more great funny and talented people are in this film like Eminem, Ray Ramano and Sarah Silverman. I loved this film very much and think it's Judd Apatow's best film to date.
