Review of Funny Girl (1968) by Hoss J — 06 Dec 2011
Everything Barbra touches with her creepy long fingernails turns to AWESOME. I could watch this movie over and over. The dialogue is painfully corny; her indefatigable charisma carries the movie. Funny Girl has pretty much the same plot as every other Streisand film-- Barbra falls for a jerk who loves her despite her huge nose, has a baby who may or may not be shown on camera, gets divorced/dumped/cheated on, and reaches a moment of self-realization which allows her sing a really dramatic solo song at the end. Yet somehow, this is better than all of her other films combined.
Passes the Bechdel test, obviously. This is Barbra were talking about.
