If Haneke is trying to make a point that Americans like violence way too much, this is simply not the right way to do it - by feeding them more violence. For a matter of fact I cannot possibly imagine an inferior manner of trying to make a point.
The imbeciles handing out 10s to this movie like they were giving candy to a baby are only doing so because they enjoyed the movie for its violence. The whole point of this film was to get viewer's to call into question their desire for such violence, but it fails miserably at that task, because most people will either desire more violence after viewing it or have bad dreams, etc.
when they did not even enjoy such movies to begin with.
