I really didn't find it to be that thrilling or tense of a film. Haneke's whole purpose in this film is to show the audience how easily it can be manipulated and that by viewing violent films that they are complicit in that violence. I think that's really an obvious idea, not profound enough to make a film about it.

His directing style always seems uninspired to me. Long static shots have their place in film, but not to the point where their overuse creates boredom and monotony. I don't mind the characters breaking the "fourth wall," but when Haneke decides to simply rewind a part of the film and replay it, he crossed the pretentiousness point of no return.
