Review of Funny Games (1997) by Gavin M — 13 Apr 2008

I had written a review, but it was apparently erased. Dark and twisted, the film is definitely worth a look. The things that happen in the movie often make you wonder if you should even be watching it.

To be honest, the film doesn't even stoop to being that graphic in nature, just in subject. Plus the lead is very charming, which makes it seem strange hating him, though he is very easy to hate. I also enjoy the way the film plays with the audience's perception of both reality and violence.

The metal song in the film can be over bearing at points though.
