Review of Funny Games (1997) by William R — 21 Jul 2008
The funny game is that Michael Haneke is playing with the audience, by breaking the forth wall, staging a possible escape (of course it can't be, since that is just the middle of the film), rewinding a possibly Hollywood ending... etc.
Still, the film is intense and well acted, especially Paul. By the end, Haneke try to tell that fiction is as real as reality. But just saying it won't work. It would be a greater success if Haneke don't keep reminding us it is a film that we are watching.
