Review of Funny Games (1997) by Cory T — 03 Aug 2008
This is a great statement on violence in movies and the audiences thirst for it. I think a lot of people misread this one because they thought it was a horror movie. It is horrific, but it is smarter than that.
I saw the American remake that Haneke did himself which is frame for frame the same movie in English with different actors, but the intent is the same. I think American audiences have more of a problem with this movie because much of it is dialogue in one area, but it is such a good example of audience manipulation by a great director.
