Review of Funny Games (1997) by Andrew B — 15 Apr 2009

An experiment in the anticipation of shocking events that works on some levels, but goes too far - not in its violence, but in its means of communication. The effort is noble, but it felt like some of the attention-grabbing techniques used by Haneke were a bit self-indulgent.

I'm interested to see the American one now, and how different it is (although I hear they're almost the same film).
