Review of Funny Games (1997) by Annie C — 04 Apr 2010
Michael Haneke is such a jerk! All his films are soo negative and disturbing. But Funny Games especially, is a movie made to provoke the audience relationship with violence in the media, with the characters interacting constantly with the audience.
We as audience became engaged in the film and got tricked again and again by Haneke's little games. Some might think the plot is too slow, and the violence is not exceptionally outgrageous, but Haneke had pushed the actors to some extreme levels, and the film reached his goal to play with the audience, and that's the whole point.
