Haneke builds an inteligent and strong argument for his hopelessness regarding humankind.
In a lower level, he shows the sickness of the unexpected guests. Then, even the members of the perfect family reveal to have some flaws. Eventually, the movie forces the very audience to be fascinated by the violence and cruelty, Q.E.D.
