Review of Funny Face (1932) by Rob C — 25 Feb 2010
Funny Face was a film full of sophisticated harmony and unorthodox screenplay. The colorful bunch of characters it introduced, displayed an uncanny sense of artistic merit for their craft. Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn were absolutely amazing in this Broadway musical.
Astair has that robust demeanor to his acting that I find enjoyable to watch; I just can't help but admire him. Hepburn is like a poetic lullaby, perfectly in tune to everything around her; with a dazzling sense of movement when she dances.
She is like a lighted candle in a dark, dismal cave; just illuminating what you can't see. It really is a joy to watch her work. Funny Face brings to life the late-fifties and showcases it's imagination in full color.
