Review of Funny Face (1932) by Jonathan R — 12 Apr 2010
This movie just really didn't do it for me. It has moments of charm, but it's so self-conscious that it's being charming that it's too saccharine. I love Astaire's early movies, but here I found his acting hard to swallow - though you have to love his energy.
In truth, Kay Thompson steals the show with her audacious performance as a fashion magazine editor.
