Review of Funny Face (1932) by Chelsea C — 14 Jan 2012
Funny Face is one of the greatest musical-comedies ever made! Audrey Hepburn is stunning and gives a great performance to match her beauty. Fred Astaire charmingly sings and dances on screen and Kay Thompson steals every scene she's in.
The excellent Gershwin score is fantastic with such delightful numbers as 'S'wonderful' and the title song. In this, Hepburn sings her own songs and does a fine job, despite the harsh critism.
Stanley Donen's colorful direction is key to making this movie a stunning musical masterpiece and the script has a nice story and allows Astaire and Hepburn to have excellent screen chemistry. Funny Face is a must-see for any musical lover! If you love Audrey Hepburn, you'll also be able to see her use her dancing talent!
