Review of Funeral in Berlin (1966) by Lyle R — 14 Aug 2011
Michael Caine reprises his role as Harry Palmer in this slow-building but entertaining spy thriller, set in a divided Berlin during the height of the Cold War. This film is much better than "The Ipcress File", which saw Caine's first turn as Palmer, filled with characters who aren't who they seem, and with several double-crosses which drive the plot nicely to a strong finish.
Much better than most spy thrillers nowadays, relying on story and acting, rather than explosions, multiple ridiculous fight scenes and over the top special effects.
