Review of Fun and Fancy Free (1947) by Jackson W — 19 Jul 2013
This is one of the few package films in the Disney canon that takes itself seriously, and it has plenty of instances of musical beauty. Yet with its predecessors, the stories are just sold way short, even when Walt's classic characters are on the screen.
To me there was too much live action down the home stretch which threw off most of the films potential. If they followed the scheme of Make Mine Music or Fantasia, which is an array of musical animated sequences, this had some potential to be more classic worthy than what it was.
