Unfortunately this film tries to cater for everyone: film lovers (Fritz Lang), anime enthusiasts and newcomers, as well as lovers of the series, and ends up spreading itself too thinly. It's good to see Hughes back, albeit briefly, I like the twists, the period setting, being immersed in the alchemist world again, the doubles and it's a brave ending and everything, but.
.. it simply doesn't capture what was great about the series. For completists only.
