Review of Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa (2005) by Will L — 05 Jan 2010
A disappointing ending to what began as a great anime series. The series began taking some strange turns a while after it split from the manga, and the anime's open ending necessitated the movie's existence, but its plot was just too far removed from the original to be a satisfying finle.
Thule society? Nazis? Never once did I feel like I was watching "the ending that was meant to be." I found the cameos among the alternate-universe clones amusing, and the humunculi have their fates wrapped up and all (but Envy as a dragon?).
Mainly, it just some mildly interesting stuff that happens after the series, not really stupid enough for me to declare non-canon but not a worthy ending either.
