Review of Full Metal Jacket (1987) by Screenager — 20 Apr 2013
Stanley Kubrick created another classic masterpiece and created the impressive characters Pyle and Drill Instructor Hartman (with equally incredible performances from Vincent D'Onofrio and R Lee Ermey respectively, with the latter ad-libbing most of his dialogue).
However once these two characters are killed off halfway through the movie, the second act fails to live up to the brilliance of the first half (though this is common in most Vietnam/American war films), though its still an enjoyable, albeit dark, experience.
