Despite the fact that the production and directing is quite amateur, Jordan's performance and the story structure generates immense empathy for the protagonist, resulting in a rather powerful climax.
If you know the story, it does it justice. If not, I think you'll enjoy the ride. I recommend it, although it's not at the top of my list.
