Fruitvale Station is a 2013 American biographical drama film written and directed by Ryan Coogler.
This movie, based on a true story, certainly had me intrigued from the start. It is filmed in a casual, hand-held style, and this only adds to the realistic daily life of the main characters and the events which unfold. Though it does lose its way with a weaker narrative in the second half, the final scenes are certainly powerful and emotional. I was unaware of this event prior to seeing the movie, which added to its impact on me after the credits rolled.
