Review of Fruitvale Station (2013) by Mohamed F — 18 Mar 2014
Americans and their stupid white guilt crap, just another cheap propaganda with an adolescent cinematic take, a very uninspired director that shouldn't have access to another camera in his entire life.
The choice of shooting on 16mm film is another extension to the adolescence theory, since we have to face it, film is dead, and this heavily grained ugly piece stands witness, yeah the amazing filmic roll off of highlights, pure softness and beautiful halos are present, but the heavy grain is no longer an artistic choice, it's a dead choice and the memorial has already been held, move on filmmakers and look to the future, big guys like Scorsese realized it long ago and made the jump, enough with the film fetish already.
