Review of Fruitvale Station (2013) by Andrew O — 17 May 2015
Fruitvale Station may be the closest film as an art medium can come to realism. You are enveloped in the story are the actors meld into the characters, the writing into the conversation, the direction into life.
This isn't a film, this is life. Life, the good and the bad, the love and the pain. The film is determined, even through all its slow dread and pressure of fate, to convince you that life is worth living, no matter how painful it can be.
The moment we stop crying because of movies like Fruitvale Station is the moment we stop being worth fighting for.
