Review of Frozen River (2008) by Max W — 23 Feb 2009
A compelling first film from screenwriter and director Courtney Hunt about a woman on the verge (love those characters) who starts smuggling immigrants across the Canadian border over a Mohawk Indian reservation in order to get enough money to make the last payment on her double-wide trailer.
Melissa Leo is commanding and fearless as Ray Eddy, reason enough really to watch the movie, but it's a original story and a well-made film.
