Review of Frozen River (2008) by Soraya B — 14 Jan 2013
Melissa Leo delivers a stand-out performance as she shares the pain and desperation of life as a single Mother on the breadline with Misty Upham. This is a gritty, engaging and socially relevant film. This film does not seek to shoe-shine its performances, hence the heightened realism and sometimes awkward exchanges between the actors.
A brilliant cinematic caption which depicts how both hunger and the burden of survival can cause us to question our pre-formed morals.
