Review of Frozen River (2008) by Rachel H — 12 Jul 2009
Characters, cinematography and scenery all seemingly coming together to give you a dramatic ending...I stuck with this movie, for that very reason - moments leading up to something, but then when dramatic goings on, come and go with happy endings, you wonder when the moment will hit you, when the bitter sweet ending will come upon the characters you come to grow to love, but nothing! Oh why? Why did the movie spend so long setting the scene with these characters, only to have NOTHING happen to them, there was no amazingly happy, sad or bitter ending.
I feel robbed of a sad heart wrenching ending that they could have easily accomplished. There could have been so many dramatic possiblities with this story, and they fell short of coming through and seeing it to the end.
Why did everything always work out for these two hard to done to ladies? If they had such good luck, why were they down and out in the first place? DUh What a let down...the movie was good - but slow and lacking in depth at the end.
Oh well, I rewrote the ending in my own mind and feel slightly less robbed of my time.
