Review of Frozen River (2008) by Ursula R — 04 Jul 2009
A lot more than I expected. Courtney Hunt makes her directorial debut with the tale of a desperate mother who resorts to smuggling immigrants to support her family after the gambling addicted husband splits town with the down payment for the family's new mobile home.
Frozen River is a powerful film about relevant subject matter. The unique story and superb acting easily make up for the less than great production quality. I highly recommend this film, especially for those interested in independent film.
