Review of Frontier(s) (2007) by Jason D — 27 May 2008
The cards were stacked against this movie leading up to my lazy ass finally putting it in the DVD player to watch. My fellow peers were thoroughly disappointed with it, the After Dark folks have managed to put out nearly 95% complete shit, and it's directed by the same guy who did Hitman.
...yippee. To my surprise though, Frontière(s) hit all of the write spots for me, the acting, the gore, the characters and plot points, hell, even the music was really, really good. Basically, a bunch of hoodlums flee Paris with loads of cash, but wind up in one seriously fucked up Bed and Breakfast.
What follows is a TON of bloodshit, not to mention a couple of truly genuinely creepy moments in the fill (like the very claustrophobic scene in the small tunnel), and one scene involving the Achilles tendon that forced me to look away (a feat that is rarely RARELY ever met).
Yeah, the film was heavily ripping from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but it was still a good film and a lot of fun to watch. I enjoyed it.
