Review of From Within (2008) by Coco F — 03 Feb 2010
Having waded through a tonne of cack recently in the genre, this was quite a pleasant surprise. It gives a neatly contained, perhaps a little contrived, story which you can buy into for most of the film.
A number of suicides in a close-nit community lead to some searching questions for everyone. The pace of the action is quite taut and the characters are likeable/loathable in the right doses. I recommend this to anyone fed up of not getting answers from thriller/horrors that just leave you asking "Yes, but why did that happen?", caked in a lot blood and brain matter.
With a relatively C-list cast, the story takes centre stage. You shouldn't begrudge 90 minutes watching this film.
