Review of From Russia with Love (1963) by James F — 31 Jan 2011
The first Act of From Russia with Love forced Bond to take a backseat of the action, as we are introduced to the Antagonists, SMERSH, or SPECTRE - SPecial Executive branch of Counterintelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion.
The bond girl is my personal favorite out of the entire series, even better than Honey Rider. And since the 3rd act takes place entirely on a train, this is a great example of on the move adventure. The directors decided to hold most of the action towards the very final act, with an exception to a brief intermission or to during the halfway point.
This second James Bond adventure is better than the first. From Russia with Love is great. Sean Connery continues establishing himself in the role that he defined.
