Review of From Russia with Love (1963) by Sidney S — 26 Aug 2012
The second James Bond adventure is better than the first. FRWL is great. Sean Connery continues establishing himself in the role that he defined. This time Bond is involved in a plot that targets his own life at the hands of terrorist organization SPECTRE.
In many ways From Russia With Love is the definitive James Bond movie with a great story, dark, and in depth with a great Cold War sub plot. SPECTRE's shadowy leader is introduced without revealing his face and ultimately has some of the most memorable moments in the series such as the hedgemaze, Istanbul, Orient Express, the tunnels, the boat a great villian Red Grant played by Robert Shaw and the first film to introduce gadgets.
Sean Connery continues to play Bond to perfection he is suave, cool and deadly. Connery is a pure dynamic on the screen.
