Review of From Russia with Love (1963) by Reece L — 11 Nov 2015
A significant improvement on the first Bond outing simply by virtue of the fact that it's not disastrously insensitive to POC (although it's certainly not perfect in that regard), From Russia With Love actually feels like a Bond film through and through, right down to the cheesy one-liners.
The direction seems more assured, the story is more interesting, and the special effects are much better, allowing for a basis from which the rest of films in the series could use as a template in a way that Dr.
No failed to do. There are still problems that keep it from becoming some thing truly great, but for the most part, From Russia With Love earns its nostalgia-based reputation as one of the best in the series.
