Review of From Russia with Love (1963) by Tom R — 15 Nov 2012
(4 Stars) From Russia With Love is seen by many people as the best Bond movie. It's not hard to see why as the second half of this movie is pure Hitchcock. There are two very amazing sequences that are so well done that you would assume the Master of Suspense directed them himself.
These are the train interrogation sequence between Bond (Sean Connery) and Red Grant (Robert Shaw, who is amazing here) and the helicopter chase, which is definitely a reference to North By Northwest.
It also expands the mystery of SPECTRE, the puzzling terrorist organization that the Connery's Bond faces off against in future films. From Russia With Love is very impressive and one of the better Bond films.
