Review of From Russia with Love (1963) by Chris B — 03 Dec 2015
Only a year after the first film in the Bond franchise, "Dr. No" was released, we are given this amazing second feature entitled "From Russia with Love". The film takes all the elements that worked in the first film and ups the ante with bigger and more dangerous circumstances and enemies and a darker tone.
Sean Connery does an even better job in the title role and we get a deeper look into the SPECTRE organization that Dr. No worked for in the first film. The showdown on the Orient Express is exciting and well conceived and makes for a fitting finale to the film.
Overall this ranks among the top-tier Bond films, in my book at least.
