Review of From Here to Eternity (1953) by Drew C — 20 Jun 2007
In this gripping tale of love, war and everything in between, director Fred Zinnemann is able to make this almost epic movie seem simple, small and character driven. Outstanding performances by Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Clift, and Deborah Kerr help further illustrate the grim outlook of these people's lives.
There is also breakthrough, Oscar-winning performances by Frank Sinatra and Donna Reed as a hooker with a heart of gold. Sex on the beach never looked better than in this film. Enjoy.
