Review of From Here to Eternity (1953) by Mb M — 16 Mar 2010
I saw this really funky movie. It was black and white and it was from the 1950s and it apparently won like all the Oscars in the year it came out.
Well it was all about this guy living on an army base, and he was like a guy in the army, but everyone kept giving him hell because he wouldn't join the boxing team, because he punched out a kid when he was younger and blinded him. And his girlfriend wanted him to quit, and there was this dude named Fatso who killed some guy, and the army dude had to stop him. And all this nuts stuff was going on.
Then 5 minutes before the movie ended, The Guy's Army Base gets bombed by the japanese, and the shock twist was that he apparently was stationed at Pearl Harbor, and then as hes trying to get back to the base, his superiors shoot him in the resulting chaos. And the movie ends with some guy saying "Oh the poor fool, if only he had joined the Boxing team, he wouldn't have ended up this way. And to think of the Irony, now that WW2 has broken out there wont even be a boxing tournament!".
The Moral of this movie is you should always join the boxing team.
