Review of From Hell (2001) by John H — 15 Mar 2009
Jack the rippers been done a whole lot in print, documentary,as well as movies before which is why I'm giving this one a high mark. It didn't feel like the same story over & over again which is a monumental statement in itself.
They did this by focusing on the other people involved in this true tale. The inspector mainly, but also on the fear & anquish of the prostitutes. I mean they had to still make a living, but also had to go out in the dark foggy streets of jack's playground to do it.
This puts a whole new spin on not being enthusiastic about going to work. Aside from that the imagery & atmosphere made U feel like u were in london during the 1880's. When the movie did focus on jack & the slayings it was done w/remorseless brutality & eerie detail.
In synopsis,"good damn movie!".
