Review of From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) by Sarfaraz A — 29 Jan 2014
From Dusk Till Dawn - crime-heist vampire-horror film written by Quentin Tarantino, edited and directed by Robert Rodriguez. Starring George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Quentin Tarantino, Juliette Lewis. Quentin Tarantino was nominated for 'Worst Supporting Actor' by Razzie Award.
Clooney and Tarantino are two brothers-in-arms running from the law-enforcing agency, hold at gun-point the owner of an off-highway general-store. Tarantino a psycho sex-offender kills the owner of the store (John Hawkes) and a police-officer in pool of blood. Clooney is fed-up of his brother's mental-illness. The two hijack RV and take into hostage its missionary driver (Harvey Keitel) who is traveling with his daughter (Juliette Lewis) and an Asian-son. They arrive in a strip-club cross-border inside Mexico. After an accident in which Tarantino's finger bleeds which entices the striper (Salma Hayek) and turns into a vampire.
Since the film is written by Tarantino which means utter usage of dialogues as usual. I should appreciate the writing of the story which involves crime, and horror genre. The final scene is quite short but in that short scene we have enough of blood and terror to extinguish our thirst. I have often been criticized for taking on George Clooney whose fame and popularity sometimes exceeds way beyond what he should deserve actually. On the other hand I loved his this film.
