Review of Fright Night (1985) by Alex G — 23 Oct 2010
This movie is so 80's but still a lot of spooky fun as a horror movie fan believes he's living next door to a real vampire and enlists a washed up horror movie actor to help vanquish him. Ragsdale plays the lead role perfectly as does the legendary Roddy McDowall as cowardly horror star, Peter Vincent.
Chris Sarandon makes it all work as the vampire next door playing the role with equal parts sexy and scary.This in contrast to today's vampire portrayals, he doesn't come across as a neutered ponce and he certainly doesn't sparkle in the sun.
The end is a bit overblown but in a Halloween spookhouse kinda way. An entertaining horror flick.
