Review of Friends with Kids (2012) by Melanie S — 17 Aug 2012
This movie was funny, witty, sad, and real. In fact, it was one of the most poignant American films regarding the murkiness that happens between men and women who really are friends, as well as the reality of what children and marriages do to couples.
AND, it even throws in the chiseled goodness Jon Hamm, who happens to be the writer and director's long-time partner. Then...in the last ten minutes, it blows all of that work for a ridiculous, unlikely, completely unbelievable ending that was, likely, the price of getting the film made in the first places.
C'est la vie, I guess. That last ten minutes relegated this film from great to simply mediocre.
