Review of Friends with Kids (2012) by Kaie D — 15 Jul 2014
Shocked that Jennifer Westfeldt would've signed off on what could be one of the worst movie endings of the 21st century so far. So lame, so flaccid, so completely simpering. I don't know how any movie producer, after seeing this, could take her seriously when considering where to put their movie-making dollars.
And Westfeldt couldn't even muster up the strength to redo the scenes where she's supposed to be crying. Not one tear - human, glycerine or otherwise - is to be found coming from her. The talent that was wasted on this movie! Adam Scott was a surprisingly delightful leading man.
Jon Hamm hitched his wagon to his wifey's project (he didn't make eye contact with Westfeldt in any of the scenes they share). This movie had so many chances to save itself but it seems like Westfeldt just wanted to check "Make bigscreen movie with hunky husby" off her bucket list and get back to shopping with him at Barney's for the benefit of the paparazzi.
What a true shame.
