Review of Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) by Daniel D — 13 Dec 2009
Even if you've never tried fried green tomatoes, you don't need to eat them to know why this film is considered an American classic. Having a rich feel to American scenery in both early 1900s and recent times, a story unfolds that has an unusal mix of irony and saddness on the memories we create and the courage it took to make them.
Its characters, some honest and some sly, represents a resounding feel in American behavior, reminding us that we can always make friendship with the people we know, and they may turn out to be the best friends we've ever had.
While some certian transitions for the story are not as sound, its mysterious conflict and the climax concludes the movie with a terrific idea that fits its atmosphere, and not to mention completely shocking and amusing.
"Fried Green Tomatoes" deserves the praise it gets for the touching atmosphere it creates, and while some parts may become a bit bitter for pleasure, its after-taste will be a pleasureable memory.
