Review of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) by Nick M — 07 May 2012

Watching it again today, it works oddly well, almost like a John Hughes movie that got lost and wandered into slasher territory. This one certainly felt as if it properly closed out the Friday the 13th series before it devolved into unadulterated camp.

This is a good sequel but once again the actors are young and sexy looking and once again can't act but I'm guessing that's the whole point, you don't care for the characters but smile when they bump off.

The fight between Tommy and Jason's good though and the gory special effects seem to improve by each sequel. It's only better because than the last two only because some actual thought went into this, it may be the same as the others but you can tell the budget has improved.

It's a shame that this isn't the final chapters. Horror character icons never die.
