Review of Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) by Libero S — 26 Jan 2015
Not as good as the original movie (which wasn't good by any stretch of the imagination), in part 2 we finally get to see the infamous Jason Vorhees, in the first movie the serial killer was Jason's mother Pamela Vorhees, in this entry Jason is avenging his mother's murder from the previous movie.
The second entry is basically a copy of it's predecessor, just with a different killer we have the same plot, same setting, same everything, the film is no different to the fourth, fifth and sixth film in the franchise. With horror movies once a relatively successful formula appeals to cinema goers they suffocate you with the same formula every movie in the franchise (even in space).
Jason is a much better villain than his mother, thank goodness we only endured her as the main villain for one movie, in terms of nouvelle ideas the film has none, if you liked the first movie you'll like this second entry, but if you didn't like the first, chances are this film won't entice many new viewers.
The acting is still pretty laughable and the same old rancid plot really sets the film back a step, usually more effort would be put in to putting right all the things that were wrong with the first movie but no, in part 2 we are still seeing the same mistakes as the previous movie/.
